The events leading up the the GWA open letter span over a few months. They begin on the GWA Script Guild subreddit then move over to the main GWA subreddit. Unfortunately for the creators and signatories of the open letter, their months-long campaign doesn’t achieve any of its intended goals.
GWASG
Nearing the end of 2023, a few scripts “fetishizing” lesbians were posted to the r/GWAScriptGuild subreddit (GWASG). They caused a stir because they depicted lesbians having sex with men and these audios were mostly for the enjoyment of men. This would prompt a few users to launch a campaign against these scripts in an effort to get the subreddit to ban them entirely.
Rough timeline
2023-07-08 - Reddit user u/SmuttyCreator posts a script involving a “class clown” and his “emotional support lesbian”. The lesbian gives the man a blowjob.
2023-12-08 - Reddit user u/GordMcKenz posts a script involving two lesbians and a male neighbor. The lesbians want kids so one of them has to convince their neighbor to have sex with them.
2023-12-10 - ellamachine takes to twitter to complain about users on GWA fetishizing lesbians. In the replies, all of the usual activist accounts are there to feign outrage as well.
2023-12-17 - ellamachine and all other instigators get banned from GWASG for “repeated abusive and aggressive comments towards other members of the community that continued despite warnings.”
2023-12-17 - Reddit user u/Lamiacy reaches out to the mods in an effort to get them to ban “lesbian fetishization” scripts. The mods didn’t see any reason to and also reiterated that race play scripts were also allowed.
2023-12-23 - ellamachine considers creating a new subreddit to replace GWASG.
2024-01-15 - members of r/GWASapphic create a new subreddit called r/SapphicScriptGuild with all the changes they wanted to see from GWASG.
